Results Of WWE Monday Night Raw 18.10.2010 / 2010.10.18 / 10.18.2010

I want everyone to know that I had VERY minor surgery today and was under anesthesia, so anything wonky could end up in this. This way everyone is forewarned if I go off in a strange and unexpected direction. I doubt I will, but I wanted to be upfront about this before the show even starts.

WWE RAW this week starts with music and pyro.

Teddy Long out to the ring with mixed reaction. Why's he there? Because he can. Tonight he's taking over  WWE RAW! Heat from the fans.

Ding-Ding! Cole gets up on the podium with a HUGE grin. "Get out of my ring! Get out of my ring now! You have no business being here!"

He said WWE SD! Vs. WWE RAW this Sunday at WWE Bragging Rights. Long called for the trophy. The WWE RAW GM needs to eat his heart out because it belongs to WWE SD! They laid the WWE smackdown on all the WWE RAW Superstars.

Ding-Ding! "Get out of my ring, or else!"

Long asked, "You're not threatening me, are you dog? Get out of your ring, or else? I'll show you or else." Long got out of the ring. He and Cole argue off mics.

Ding-Ding! Long and Cole continue to argue.

Ding-Ding! Cole heads back to the podium, but Long stops him.

Ding-Ding! Long up on the podium and calls for attention please. He says the WWE SD! GM has an announcement to make. Right now the WWE RAW GM will be disconnected. Cole about pitches a fit. Long them announces the winning team for WWE Bragging Rights, but first the SD! Captain. Big Show out to the ring. Edge is next out. Alberto Del Rio, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger, Tyler Reks and Rey Mysterio.

Miz's music hits and he stomps out with Riley as Cole is thrilled. Miz asks really? Really? This is the team that's going to take over WWE RAW? It looks like the Smurf village grew up beside a nuclear power plant. You've got Fat Smurf, Rico Suave Smurf, Lispy Smurf, Homeless Smurf and well, Smurfette. Oh wait, that's Edge. Edge gives an acknowledging nod. Don't you realize that he was the sole surviving Team WWE RAW member last year? He is WWE RAW's Team Captain. He's the man who will lead Team WWE RAW over Team SD! That trophy and everything else will be coming over to the A show. As WWE RAW's Team Captain, allow him to introduce him team. CM Punk, John Morrison, Santino, Ezekial Jackson, Sheamus. Now, get out of our ring, or we'll make you get out. Team  WWE RAW heads for the ring, team WWE SD! was ready. Big Show head butt many of the RAW boys. Sheamus on Big Show. Edge throws Miz out. Big Show throws Sheamus out. The rest of Team WWE RAW flees. Cole calls it regrouping. Miz tells them to save it for Sunday. Cole is all indignant about team WWE SD! showing up on THEIR show.

Big Show grabs a mic and tells Miz to not go back there and start a bunch of ruckus. He gets it, this is WWE RAW, their ring, SD! will get out willingly on one condition. Miz faces him one on one in a Captain Vs. Captain Match. Riley whispers in Miz's ear. Big Show makes chicken noises at Miz. Miz is ready to go, tonight. Big Show smiles and his music plays. Cole goes off about Miz leading by example and is awesome! Cole and King both tell Long to go away!

Video of what went down between Cena and Wade last week. Cena faced Miz in a No DQ Match. Riley, Husky and McGillicutty got involved and Cena lost the match. So Cena isn't on Team RAW. After the match Wade was out getting in Cena's face and making him back down or be fired. He ripped Cena a new one, called him a coward, yellow bellied, spineless! Cena just walked away.

But he doesn't think Cena has a problem helping Wade win the Title. But if he gets in Orton's way, Orton will kick him in the skull and take him out of his misery. Cena says if Orton even tries to kick him with that leg, he'll break it off. Cena stomps off leaving Orton looking thoughtful.

Wade says he wants Cena to give the fans the Cena they know and love. Now go get him a glass of water. Cena was shocked. Wade said it again. Cena, downtrodden, went off to do it.

Bobb'e J. Thompson playing RAW Vs. SD! He had Big Show beating down Miz. Miz in there and says that's not what's going to happen. Bobb'e says Big Show will shut Miz's big mouth. It's SD! all the way. Miz picks him up, calls him a twerp, and tells him to tell his giant Knucklehead friend he has a surprise for him. Bigger than a Big Show surprise. Miz turns to hand Bobb'e to Riley, but Big Show takes the boy. Bobb'e smiles as Big Show sets him up on a piece of furniture. Bobb'e talks smack that Miz didn't scare him. Bobb'e told Big Show to do him a favor, knock that sucker out for him. Big Show says he will, then asks for the controller to show Bobb'e a few things with the game.

Cena brings Wade a glass of water. Wade smirks and asks about it not being so difficult. Wade sips, says he's really enjoying it. Threw the rest in Cena's face and says delicious, really delicious. Cena walks off.

Dolph tells Bryan he has no idea what he's doing. Bryan says, 'if I can be serious for a minute' and the place about erupts! Bryan says he's not shredded, doesn't have the movie star good looks Dolph does. Dolph says that's an understatement. Bryan says he doesn't have the peroxide infested hair. But he does have one thing, the ability to capitalize on any mistake made in that ring. And, the ability to make Dolph tap out! The fans love it! Bryan proposes the Title against Title at Bragging Rights?

Results Of WWE Monday Night Raw 11.10.2010 / 2010.10.11 / 11.04.2010

WWE RAW this week starts with Cena out to the ring. The fans are really mixed! Lots more heat for him. King says a lot of fans feel Cena's let them down by wearing the Nexus armband. A small Cena chant and he says it means so much. He's thrilled they haven't lost hope, that they still believe! Huge cheers. Cena goes on to say last week he heard the WWE Universe chant something they've never chanted before. A small "Cena sucks!" chant and Cena says that's not new. What they were chanting was, "Never give up." It seems awkward, but he promises he's never given up and he never will. He just wants to set the record straight, he took a risk. If he beat Wade Barrett, then Nexus would be disbanded completely. We can argue all day about how he lost, but the fact is he lost. He made a deal, the deal was that if he lost he'd become a member of Nexus. Heat from the fans. He says that apparently means he needs to take orders from Wade Barrett. More heat. If he doesn't, he'll be fired. Not fired from RAW with the option of going to SD! Fired from the WWE. We've been together a long time. He's heard them chant, he's heard them boo. But every Monday night he loves coming out because they get so excited, regardless of what they say to him. For once in his life it's not about championships or money, but about what he loves. This is what he loves, lives for. If he doesn't have this, he doesn̢۪t know what he's doing. This is difficult. He's between a rock and a hard place. Because of this they might see him do things he doesn̢۪t want to do. It has nothing to do with him, it's the type of guy Wade Barrett is.

Awesome - Miz cuts Cena off. Cole says it's Miz's Birthday, so here he is. Cole talks about how Miz is the future. Into the ring and Miz gets serious heat. He says awe, Cena doesn't want to lose the support of the WWE Universe. Cena's lucky. Miz has taken it upon himself to Captain Team RAW at Bragging Rights going against Big Show and Team SD. Unlike Cena, he doesn't assemble his teams by who he likes personally. He's going offer Cena a spot on HIS team. He knows Cena takes pride in RAW and didn't like it last year when Big Show betrayed RAW. He wants Cena to join HIS team. Cena thinks this is a really good idea. The only problem he has is Miz being the Captain. It's a ridiculous as Betty White doing a spread for Playboy. A lot of us would look, but it would be a disaster. He's got nothing going on at Bragging Rights, so why doesn̢۪t he Captain Team RAW?

Wade comes out and says he'll make this very, very easy for everyone concerned. He doesn't care about RAW or SD!, all he cares about is Nexus and the WWE Title. He needs Cena's attention on one thing and one thing only. Being in his corner when he takes on Orton. Forget about the rest. He wants nothing to get in his way at Bragging Rights. Cena says there's no reason he can't do both. Wade says all he's going to do is be in his corner, or is he going to disobey his orders?

Riley steps up and tell Cena that while he might be new, he thinks Cena should listen to Wade. Even if Wade does win, Miz might cash in and leave Bragging Rights as WWE Champion. Miz rips the mic from Riley's hand and says there goes the element of surprise! But Riley's right. Maybe he leads RAW to victory and takes the WWE Title.

Ding-Ding! Heat for Cole. And I quote! "Wade, while John Cena answers to you, you and everyone else on the RAW roster answers to me. At Bragging Rights, I want RAW to beat SD! And I want the best team possible. Therefore, tonight I've arrange a series of matches with the winner going on to form Team RAW. As for who will lead the team, well, I'm afraid there can only be one true Captain. I don't want a team that suffers from jealousy and has the potential of betrayal like last year. Therefore in tonight's main event there will be a match to determine the Captain of Team RAW. It will be Miz versus John Cena."

Miz says that's fine and dandy because he will beat Cena and be Team Captain at RAW. Maybe he will cash in at Bragging Rights and become Champion. You know what you can do about it Barrett? Absolutely, positively nothing! Wade goes after Miz. Riley attacks Wade. Miz and Riley beat down Wade. Wade motions and Cena gets into it. He takes Miz out, then an AA to Riley. Cena poses on a corner while Miz glares. Then Wade screams at Cena in the ring, takes him apart for obviously not jumping right in and helping. Cena nods as he stares at the mat.

Video of Punk's attack on Evan after their match.

Natalya in the ring. She says that Lay-Cool is about as cheap as the heel Layla threw at her in HIAC. Bret's taught her a lot in her life, but the most important thing he always taught her was to stand up for herself. In two weeks at Bragging Rights the only thing Lay-Cool will be throwing is a fit because she's walking away with the Unified Women's Title.

Lay-Cool out and McCool says she hates to interrupt her heartfelt speech, but all they hear is blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Never mind that they've been staring at her when they can now look at them! Heat for Lay-Cool. McCool says they totally respect her. She has courage no other Diva has. Week after week, month after month, day after day she comes out in front of the fans. She must know they're in HD! Layla says she doesn't know what that is. She mustn't or she wouldn't be out there looking like that after inheriting her Dad's facial hair gene. They commend her. What they don't know is that she has to shave before every single show. If she didn't she'd look like this - split screen of Anvil and Natalya with Anvil's beard. Natalya is laughing. McCool says with that hair and her figure, she has no trouble looking like the Anvil! Natalya congratulates them. After last week's headset fiasco, they've proven to be the most annoying Divas in the WWE. Tonight they're only confirming that their IQ's are lower than their combined, nonexistent waist size. They go one and on about how skinny they are, then tell Natalya how jealous she is of them. McCool says they're the greatest Divas in WWE history. They're the best there is, was and ever will be. Natalya and these idiots are too stupid to show it, but all the Divas love them. They're the best and will show it in two weeks. Lay-Cool leave the ring, Natalya still smirking.

Results Of WWE Monday Night Raw 04.10.2010 / 2010.10.04 / 10.04.2010 - John Cena officially joined The Nexus

WWE Raw Results
Tuesday, October 5, 2010

The Nexus comes out to start the show and they are all smiles as they enter the ring. Barrett says as the fans can see they are still standing together, and they need to address some issues before they bring out the newest member of Nexus. Barrett identifies the attackers from last night as Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris, and says he didn't ask for their help and he didn't need it either. He asks what the other four Nexus members were thinking by coming down to the ring and risking getting him disqualified? He says they can get to that later, because Barrett asks for a very warm welcome to John Cena.

WWE Big Star Cena comes out without his entrance music, and Barrett says this is the best thing that could have happened to Cena. Tarver asks Cena who is laughing now, because he failed, and he tells Cena they have a gift for him. Tarver holds up a Nexus armband and Cena gets in his face, but reluctantly takes off his purple armband and finally puts the Nexus band on. Slater says they are all there for Cena and they prepared a statement for Cena to read about how he feels about Nexus. They tell him he doesn't have a choice and Cena reads it and he says he recognizes he is a member of the Nexus, and any Nexus enemy is now an enemy of his. He says he hopes the fans stick by him because they are either Nexus or against us.

Barrett says Cena will have a tag match against Bourne and Henry and he gets to pick his partner, and Cena picks Tarver. Barrett says there is no time like the present, and tells Bourne and Henry to get out to the ring now to start the match.

  • John Cena & Michael Tarver vs Evan Bourne & Mark Henry

Cena shakes Bourne's hand and Tarver yells at him, and gets in and goes to work on Bourne as we go to a commercial. When we get back Henry has control of Tarver and tags Bourne in, who hits a stomp to the shoulder of Tarver. Cena sarcastically reaches for a tag as Bourne holds Tarver while Henry comes in and kicks him in the ribs while Cena avoids the tag on purpose. Henry smashes Tarver on the back and steps on his chest, and tags Bourne back in and he hits a standing Shooting Star Press for two. Bourne runs into a release belly to belly suplex and Tarver tries to make the tag again, but Cena drops on the apron and signs an autograph for a fan as Tarver screams at him. He turns back around and walks into the World's Strongest Slam by Henry, and gets pinned as the fans cheer for what Cena just did.

Winners - Evan Bourne & Mark Henry

After the match Cena grabs a mic and says he wants to make a statement of his own, and he says he plans on destroying Nexus from within. He will prove that he can be Nexus and against us, and hits Tarver in the head with the microphone. He goes after him on the floor and clotheslines Tarver then positions the ring steps and picks him up. Cena bodyslams him on the steps and does it again as the fans chant 'one more time.'

He throws Tarver in the ring and hits a chopblock then puts him in the STF as Tarver screams out in pain. The GM email sounds and Cena breaks the hold, and it says the stipulation was that Cena had to join Nexus, and he must take direction from Wade Barrett, and if he doesn't, he will be fired. Cena looks shocked and looks around at the fans before he leaves the ring and goes backstage.

  • Natalya vs Alicia Fox

Alicia kicks Natalya in the face and leaps off the middle turnbuckle, but Natalya catches her and slams her down. Alicia tries to fight back but Natalya catches her by the legs and locks her in the Sharpshooter and makes her tap to win the match.

Winner - Natalya

Johnny Knoxville is in the back talking to Gail Kim and Melina and he sees Zack Ryder who says hi to Knoxville. He tells the girl to watch this and asks Ryder for a high five, and Ryder gets smacked to the ground by a giant hand. Knoxville laughs with the girls as we go to Josh Mathews, who tries to get a word with John Cena. He asks what Cena will do, and all he says is he doesn't know, and he can't not be in the WWE, then gives chase to Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty down the hall. He runs into the Nexus locker room, and Barrett says they need to talk because they just saw what he did to Tarver. Barrett tells him they have big plans for him and tells him to stay put as McGillicutty and Harris leave the room.

  • Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus

Sheamus unloads on Bryan in the corner and knees him repeatedly in the head, and ignores the referees count until he calls for the bell. Sheamus picks him up and hits the High Cross, and stares at Bryan on the canvas before he leaves the ring.

Result - No Contest

Michael Cole is behind the GM podium in the ring, and says the GM won't alter his voice anymore, and will only communicate via email, read by 'the voice of the WWE,' Michael Cole. Cole says he has a major announcement regarding the WWE Championship, but will wait for Edge to come and apologize first.

Edge says he won't apologize for anything, and in case anyone missed it, he is on a crusade against everything stupid. He says the GM computer is stupid, and so is Cole, and he would rather listen to a recording of JR than listen to a live Michael Cole. The GM sends an email and says the winner of a 20 man battle royal will face Randy Orton at Bragging Rights for the WWE Championship. Edge won't be in the match because the GM has officially traded Edge to Smackdown, and Edge looks happy about it. He says he won't have to put up with the stupid GM and calls Cole a tool, and Cole yells at him for acting like he is. He tells Edge to show some respect, and Edge says he'll leave WWE RAW on a high note and spear Cole right into next week.

Miz and Riley interrupt and Miz says he won't do that and says Cole is a visionary, and Miz tells him to go back to his announcer's seat. Edge calls Miz an Edge wannabe, and Miz says they are nothing alike. Edge says he is right, because he has been WWE Champion before and he hasn't even seen Miz have luck with a woman, unless he counts Alex Riley. Riley says he shouldn't talk like that because the Miz is the future and he's awesome, but Edge says he is awesome at tapping out. Miz says he won't let Edge get to him and he'll either be going to Bragging Rights in a title match, or leading his team to crush Smackdown. Edge attacks Riley and spears him, but Miz catches him from behind and hits the Skull Crushing Finale.

Nexus is in the back and Barrett says he was actually looking to get rid of Tarver, so Cena did him a favor. He tells Cena he will help him win the battle royal tonight, and that is an order. Otunga says if Barrett is eliminated he will help one of them win, and they tease some dissention before Barrett tells Cena that he is there to help Barrett win the match.

  • The Bellas vs LayCool

LayCool is wrestling with headset mics and is doing commentary and making jokes as the match starts. Bella 1 starts off punching Michelle and then they trade brief offensive moves, then Bella 1 dropkicks Layla off the apron. Layla gets in the ring and lays her out, and while she leaves the ring Bella 2 switches places and Michelle goes for a roll up. Bella 2 reverses the pin and gets the surprise win as Layla had her back to the ring.

Winners - The Bella Twins

Maryse is in the back with Johnny Knoxville and she says she knows it was Knoxville that has been sending the messages. He says it wasn't him, and Ted DiBiase comes in the the area and says he knows it was Knoxville. Knoxville tries to tell him to be careful but Ted doesn't listen and he gets hit with the giant hand. Maryse screams at him and throws her shoes at him then checks on Ted, but she gets smacked with the hand and lands on top of Ted. They both lay on the ground in pain as Knoxville apologizes and leaves.

Justin Roberts introduces Knoxville to come down to the ring and Knoxville keeps it short and tries to leave but he gets cut off by Ted's crappy new song. Maryse and Ted come down to the ring and asks if he thinks he is funny, and Knoxville says he was just trying to make Maryse laugh. Ted slaps him in the head and puts Knoxville in the Million Dollar Dream, then hugs Maryse. The Titantron interrupts and it says ''you are mine'' then Ted gets blindsided by Goldust. Goldust hits the Final Cut on Ted then says he doesn't want him, or Maryse, and picks up the Million Dollar Belt and holds it on his shoulder as we go to a commercial.

Otunga goes up to Cena in the back and says he heard what Cena said, but Nexus isn't all that bad. He says he knows Barrett can be a bit demanding, but he knows they can make it work. He tells Cena that's it's not the end, and says if Cena ever needs to talk, he is there for him.

  • 20 Man Battle Royal : Winner becomes #1 Contender

Sheamus Brogue kicks Bourne out of the ring then eliminates DH Smith next. Cena eliminates Regal then Morrison goes after him as Santino and Zack Ryder get eliminated. Henry press slams Primo out next, then tries throwing Barrett out but Cena saves him and Henry gets upset. Nexus eliminates Henry then they scream at Cena for not helping them, and Cena gets mad and eliminates Otunga. He screams at Barrett that he only has to help him and they argue with each other as we go to a commercial.

When we return it is down to ten men and Cena protects Barrett and fights with Ted DiBiase in the corner. Morrison clotheslines Slater over the top to eliminate him, then Cena saves Barrett from being eliminated by Truth and Morrison. Morrison hits a springboard kick to eliminate Tyson Kidd and then Miz starts beating him down, and Miz tries throwing him out, but Morrison lands on the apron and grabs Miz with a bodyscissors to pull him over the top rope and eliminate him.

Cena continues to protect Barrett as Truth kicks Gabriel over the rope, then DiBiase backbody drops Truth out to eliminate him. Barrett throws DiBiase out and its down to Morrison, Sheamus, Cena and Barrett. Morrison and Sheamus attack Cena then Barrett and Morrison go at it near the ropes. Morrison ends up on the apron and hits a kick to Barrett's head, but his momentum knocks him off the apron and he is eliminated. Sheamus reverses an Attitude Adjustment and hits the Irish Curse, then misses a Brogue Kick and gets hung up on the ropes. Cena shoves him out of the ring and it is down to Barrett and Cena.

Barrett tells him to leave and Cena gets pissed off, but ends up listening and eliminates himself and walks away from ringside. Barrett celebrates briefly but gets interrupted by Randy Orton. Orton circles Barrett and holds up the title belt and stares him down as WWE  RAW goes off the air.

Winner - Wade Barrett

-So it only got 2 weeks of TV hype, meaning the buyrate will probably suck, but I’ll give it a chance tonight because I only got 12 whiny emails asking me to do the show instead of the usual 20 at askmikeanything(at)hotmail.com.

John Morrison vs. Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
I’m not a fan of them shoehorning Morrison in there at the last second and I hope that’s not a sign that they don’t have faith in Bryan-Miz to put on a PPV quality match. The Miz takes time to let both Morrison and Bryan know that neither of them would be anything without his guidance. Miz decides to run away to start and gets his ass kicked as a result, leaving Bryan to work a leg grapevine that takes them to ringside. Miz returns and gets rid of Bryan in order to challenge his partner inside the ring but gets caught in the Tarantula so Byran throws a dropkick and locks on CATTLE MUTILATION!

Fear

It’s not over in the least and the WWE crowd doesn’t know it so Bryan breaks and goes back to the leg grapevine. Miz and Byran have a nice little battle while in the submission hold until Morrison comes back in with Starship Pain and locks on a variation of the single leg crab…very cool. He takes out Miz with a plancha to the outside but makes the mistake of charging and ends up in the first row.
They brawl in the crowd to let everyone see Miz get his ass kicked but he recovers and locks on a Dragon Sleeper using a railing in the crowd. Bryan saves but makes the mistake of calling a spot on camera and kissing a hockey board. Bryan goes for a Fujiwara armbar and Morrison breaks as they brawl towards the entrance stage. Flash kick hits off the boards but Miz uses an equipment box to floor Morrison and punish Bryan. After getting rid of Bryan, Morrison uses the POWER OF PARKOUR to get a triangle choke before Bryan breaks. Daniel quickly gets taken out again so Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale on Morrison to the arena floor…doesn’t really help in a submission match. Bryan and Miz brawl to the Gorilla position they exchange counters before a double clothesline KO spot.
Morrison sees both guys out so he climbs a lighting grid and goes to the top of the Hell in A Cell set above the stage…this can’t end well. High cross body takes out all three (5.5 out of 10 because he basically fell with style) and the announcers sell a Bryan shoulder injury. Morrison looks to finish with the Texas Cloverleaf but Alex Riley saves his boss with a slam on the entrance ramp. Bryan gets rid of Riley and gets the LaBelle Lock…….and Miz has no choice but to tap out.
Winner and STILL Champion: Daniel Bryan

-No one can say that Miz didn’t put Bryan over as clean as possible and it was a nicely laid out match. It did, however, feel more like a PG hardcore match than a submission match but that’s kind of nitpicking. So Bryan’s got a legit finish hold and two victories over a future main event star…I’m ok with that…good opener ***1/4. Cole puts over Bryan but still thinks he’s a nerd.
-How does Randy Orton manage to be boring even in recap videos?
Hell in a Cell for the WWE Title

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
So they’ve also redone the Hell in a Cell by making it MUCH higher to “prevent escape”….ok then. The positioning of this match is not good for Orton’s title reign, that’s for sure. Slugfest brawl to start and Orton gets a clothesline while the announcers name drop HHH. Randy gets another clothesline and sends Sheamus to the floor but nothing comes of it so I run upstairs to get tasty beer. When I return, Orton avoids thrown ring steps and Sheamus is the first to taste the cold, unforgiving steel cage. Orton adds a shot with the ring steps for two but Sheamus comes back in the ring and sends Randy flying into the cell. Sheamus stomps a mudhole (do they have mudholes that need stomping in Ireland?) but neglects to walk it dry, meaning he’ll never be a big time superstar.

Sheamus exposes the turnbuckle bolt and Orton avoids it but still gets hit the Irish Hammer, causing Orton to take a powder. We get the standard, Ric Flair-trademarked cheese grater cage stop (no blood of course) and Sheamus drops Orton stomach-first on the ring steps…ouch. Sheamus gets two back inside and goes to a resthold for the crowd to get back behind Orton. Sheamus switches to a bearhug, at least sticking with the established psychology, until Orton gets a back suplex to trigger the comeback. Blind charge and Sheamus hits the exposed turnbuckle (IRONY!!) with his shoulder and Orton hits his powerslam and a belly-to-belly for two. Striker earns some points with me for pointing out that Orton needs to hook a leg…Monsoon would be proud. Sheamus tries a comeback but gets hit with the backbreaker and Randy looks to finish but Sheamus stops him with a knee lift.
Sheamus brings the ring steps into the ring and tries whatever on them but Orton counters and hits a powerslam onto the steps…dang fellah, that must have hurt. It only gets two as the crowd chants for a movie studio that went out of business a long time ago…wonder what that means? Orton gets serious and hits the hangman’s DDT ON THE FLOOR in a spot that should have killed Sheamus but it’s only a double KO spot…that’s total shit. Some guy gets SPIKED on his head from the ring apron and he BEATS Orton to his feet? Get the fuck out of here. Ricky Steamboat would have been carted out of that arena on a stretcher and been cutting promos from the hospital promising revenge in like 3 months. I know we’re supposed to suspend belief and all that crap but COME ON, that’s a killer move that they just treated like an atomic drop or something.
Anyways, Sheamus brings Orton back in and hits a backbreaker on the ring steps…ummm, that doesn’t involve the steps at all. I don’t care how much Striker tries to put over that there’s a “hard surface” under his boot…forget that. Pump kick hits and it looks like the end but Orton kicks out at two. Sheamus gets pissed and goes all WrestleMania 17 Steve Austin on Orton, using a chair and just beating the hell out of Randy with it…but it only gets two. Orton avoids another chair shot and hits the RKO but Sheamus smartly rolls out of the ring and Orton can’t get the cover. Randy says “enough of this shit” and goes for the PUNT OF CERTAIN DEATH on the floor but Sheamus scurries out of the way and hits another pump kick to stop Orton but, by the time he gets Orton in the ring, it only gets two. Sheamus preps for a Razor’s Edge from the ring steps but Orton counters and hits an RKO on the ring steps to escape with the title.
Winner and STILL Champion: Randy Orton

-I liked the way they booked Sheamus in this match, treating him as a legit badass that could have won the match on a few different occasions. The DDT spot really bugged me for obvious reasons but the rest of it was technically good, just dragged a bit ***1/2. After this, I hope they move both guys onto new feuds because I’m pretty much done with this one. Oh, and can we PLEASE get a new title belt? Thank you.
-As a cool off, we get interviews with the NXT Season 3 fitness models who are pretending to be wrestlers. Thankfully, Nexus interrupts and Wade Barrett promises victory.
-JBL…I mean, Alberto Del Rio joins us as Cole’s heel character gets weirder and weirder by the day…do they have ANY idea how uneven it sounds when he acts like a face until the Harts, Daniel Bryan, or Del Rio appear? Anyways, Alberto channels Ted DiBiase and talks about his millions while mocking Dallas sports teams. Some more heel talk is finally interrupted by Edge (seemingly prepped for a face turn for some reason) and he announces a war on stupidity…does that mean he’s going to beat up the entire creative team? Edge and Del Rio prep for a brawl but Jack Swagger appears as well to protest not wrestling tonight and these guys being in the ring. The heels attack Edge but we get a special guest email from the Mystery Raw GM (on a brand new computer of course) who books Edge against Swagger in an ECW-type impromptu match…

Edge vs. Jack Swagger
So there would be no reason to advertise this match? I know Swagger has like 12 fans but maybe just one of them would buy the PPV to see this. Anyways, Swagger immediately attacks and sends Edge to the corner to get in control and use his rather boring moveset. Swagger works the body scissors until Edge fights out but he misses a charge against the ropes and Swagger gets two. Jack uses the Kurt Angle “I’m trying to German suplex the guy from the apron but it comes off looking like I’m banging him in the ass” spot but Edge hits a big boot, triggering his comeback. Swagger recovers and tries for the ankle lock but gets hit with the Edge-O-Match and Edge gets two. In a cute spot, Swagger kicks out and immediately rolls to the ankle, getting the ankle lock and forcing Edge to fight to the ropes.

Swagger hits the floor and he drags Edge to the outside for another ankle lock but Edge uses momentum to send Swagger into the ring steps…they are a popular weapon tonight. Striker explains to us what a count out is just in case no one who ordered this PPV has ever watched wrestling in their entire lives. Edge hits a missile dropkick from the top for two and slams Swagger’s arm against the ring post. He takes a little too long heading up top though and Swagger gets the Pop Up Suplex for a near fall….why not just name him Kirk Angel or something at this point? Vader Bomb is countered with a kick to the gut and the Implant DDT allows for Edge to prep a spear but he runs right into the gutwrench powerbomb for two. Edge recovers and tries an enzuirgi but injures his knee in the process and Swagger immediately grabs the ankle lock but Edge rolls though and hits a spear for the win.
Winner: Edge

-Whenever Swagger was in control, I thought the match was boring as hell because I simply don’t like Swagger’s work. I mean, it’s technically fine and he moves well in the ring but there’s no substance to it, it feels very robotic but not in a good Shamrock/Angle “machine” way…if that makes any sense. However, it was pretty good when Edge was countering Swagger’s stuff and making his comebacks so it gets **1/2 and likes it.
-Backstage, Nexus (minus Wade Barrett) goes over a David Otunga plan that he “promises” will work.

John Cena vs. Wade Barrett
Nexus disbands if Cena wins, John joins Nexus if Barrett is victorious, and Cena automatically wins in Nexus interferes…I’m hoping something interesting happens here because of the placement of the match so we’ll see. To say this is a mismatch on paper would be a huge understatement considering Barrett’s big win is over Mark F’n Henry. Feeling out process allows the crowd to start dueling chants and Cena hits a dropkick for two. Barrett gets some offense with punches but Cena comes back with what Cole calls “pound and ground” offense…he sucks. Cena tries for the Attitude Adjustment early but Nexus runs down to distract Cena and allow Barrett to attack from behind. Wade is LESS than pleased to see Nexus here because of the stipulation and orders them not to move. Barrett uses the power of the punch to get two and a backbreaker gets another near fall. Second rope flying elbow gets two again as Cole tries his best to put Nexus over as the 1997 New World Order after weeks of treating them as an afterthought. Chants from the great unwashed trigger Cena’s comeback but he misses a blind charge and a neckbreaker gets two.

Barrett goes to work on the back and slingshots Cena against the ropes and he hits knees on his way back down in a move I haven’t seen in awhile. However, now it’s time for the SOS Comeback and Nexus surrounds the ring for some intimidating glares in Cena’s general direction. WWE’s locker room has finally seen enough and the entire locker room empties to clean house on Nexus and toss them from ringside. Wade might want to start packing for Florida right about now. Cena looks for an STF but Barrett fights out and gets a mule kick for two. Wasteland attempt is countered with a slam for two but Barrett counters the AA with a butterfly suplex for his own near fall. Barrett catches Cena with a swinging slam for two while Striker FINALLY acknowledges that the older fans seem not to like Cena very much.
Barrett goes back to the flying elbow but this time only hits canvas and we have a double KO spot. Cena goes up top but gets caught and Barrett tries for a superplex but John powers out and hits his legdrop from the top for two. Another AA attempt is countered and this time Wasteland hits but, of course, it only gets two because finishing moves don’t work the first time you hit them on John Cena. As Wade decides what to do next, Cena pops up and hits the Attitude Adjustment but Wade actually gets to kick out at two in an unexpected booking move. Both guys recover and Wade charges but gets caught in the STF and a fan (100% plant) runs in to distract the referee and Husky Harris nails Cena with a 2×4 to give Barrett the win.
Winner: Wade Barrett

-This was TOTALLY the correct booking for the angle because it doesn’t turn Cena but it gives him a completely different situation for his character. Plus, you get the intrigue of new members of Nexus and now the fans get to cheer for Cena to break free from his captors. The match really picked up towards the end (as Cena matches usually do) and made it good enough for *** and the most heated match of the night. I’m actually excited to watch Raw tomorrow…when’s the last time I said that?

The crowd pretty much all looked like this

Divas Title
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya
I have a new game I play that makes watching these matches a little more bearable. Everytime one of these “wrestlers” fucks up a spot or blows a move, you do a shot. I prefer Irish whiskey because, hey, why not? McCool runs away and baits Nattie into chasing her which, of course, results in a cheapshot and the heel being in control. McCool works body scissors and the announces try to entertain themselves with bad jokes. Natalya makes the comeback with a discus clothesline but Layla distracts Nattie enough to allow McCool to recover with a suplex for two. This…crowd…is…dead. Nattie wakes them up a bit with the Sharpshooter but McCool turns it into a heel hook. Natalya reverses again back to the Sharpshooter so Layla…throws her shoe at Natalya? THAT earns a DQ? Are you kidding me?
Winner by DQ: Natalya

-Short and a shitty ending…goodbye DUD.

Ok…you’re forgiven

-Recap of the whole Taker-Kane feud…I think that’s the 399th time I’ve typed that phrase in my wrestling column-writing life. We’re approaching a milestone!
Hell in a Cell for the World Title
Kane vs. Undertaker
I think I could go the rest of my life without seeing this match again. Kane attacks as Taker is entering the cell but gets a chair kicked back in his face and tastes the cage. Taker unloads on Kane to show off his “resurgence” thanks to Paul Bearer and drops a leg for two. Striker threatens to go into the VERY confusing history of Kane-Taker but thankfully stops before getting to the 32 heel/face turns and who REALLY burned down their parents house…trust me, don’t look it up. It will give you a MASSIVE headache. Oh yeah, the match…Kane uses a steel chair to gain the advantage and stomps away but gets caught outside on the floor and hits the ring steps. After some mindless jobbing around, Kane reverses an irish whip and Taker hits the steps while Cole/King show open disdain for Striker. Kane uses the chair to go to work on Taker’s leg and then wraps it around the ring post.

Back inside, Kane dishes out the stomps and we head outside again for Kane to miss a charge into the cell. Do you like punching? Then this match is for you. Taker has an injured leg so what does he do? Why, a legdrop on the apron of course….no one ever accused UT of being a Rhodes Scholar. Back inside, Kane dropkicks the injured knee and works a submission to allow Taker to fight out and have a boo-yay slugfest which leads to a flying clothesline. UT tries for Old School but gets crotched and Kane brings him down with a superplex which, surprisingly, doesn’t draw a big pop. Kane gets his top rope clothesline but, when he goes for the cover, Taker surprises him with Hell’s Gate and causes Kane to roll to the outside to escape.
Double KO spot gives us a double sit-up spot and yet another yay-boo slugfest which leads to a running DDT from Taker for two. UT gets a chokeslam for another near fall and tries for the Last Ride but Kane goes to the injured leg and gets his own chokeslam for two. Kane pounds away in the corner but makes the same mistake HHH made at WM 17 and climbs for a ten-punch only to get hit with the Last Ride for two. Taker looks to finish with the Tombstone but Kane rolls through and hits his own…for two. Kane is, how to put it….less than pleased with the referees counting and decides to express his anger by punching the guy in the face. The usual gang of idiots run down to clear out the knocked out referee and that allows Paul Bearer to enter the cell and get verbally abused by Kane. The Zombie situp and a chokeslam saves Bearer from any harm and a Tombstone looks to finsh but Paul Bearer’s urn has a FLASHLIGHT in it and he uses it to blind Taker. What the hell was that? Bearer gives the urn to Kane and he knocks Taker silly with it and hits a chokeslam to keep the title.
Winner and STILL Champion: Kane

-OK, are they just TRYING to reference ridiculous things from the 90s now? So the urn also doubles as a flashlight…does that mean Taker’s power is derived from D batteries? Match was the usual punchy-kicky stuff that dominates their matches and the ending just sucked the life out of the crowd and made zero sense in the scheme of things **1/2.
Final Word
None of the matches were terrible (minus the diva crap) and I really liked the Nexus booking so I would say the show was worth the viewing. The Kane-Taker stuff does absolutely nothing for me but I know lots of people love Taker and love his storylines so huzzah for you but I’ll take a pass. In any case, I’m actually excited for Raw for once just to see where Daniel Bryan and Nexus go next, so that’s at least something.

Go Steelers.
